Gulf African Bank to hold a capacity building workshop to train Women Owned Businesses (WOBs) on procurement readiness

As from 22nd – 23rd March, 2017, Gulf African Bank, Kenya’s premier SME Shari’ah compliant bank, are to hold a capacity building program for women owned businesses in Mombasa, Kenya.

The two-day program, organized in partnership with UN Women will bring together women in business seeking to forge partnerships, learn about making their businesses procurement ready and gain substantive practical skills in bidding competitively in the private sector. The strength and competency building initiative for the WOBs is a key aspect to ensure that they are able to benefit from the Gulf African Bank unsecured trade finance products that incorporates women who have been issued with their first tenders and also the Banks affirmative action procurement process.

As in most developing countries, Women Owned Businesses in Kenya have more challenges accessing procurement opportunities compared to their male counterparts. Gulf African Bank, the country’s premier SME Islamic bank, is addressing this limitation through its women banking program by holding such capacity building forums. The program’s aim is to show the women opportunities available in the procurement ecosystem, how to apply for the tenders and access to trade finance products.

Gulf African Bank is the Premier Shari’ah compliant SME bank in Kenya, offering products that address the needs of not just Muslims, but everyone in the country through fair, safe and ethical banking practices.
