9 out of the 10 enterprises that made it to the final list of Sankalp Africa Award are Kenyan startups

The 4th edition of Sankalp Africa Summit (SAS’17) is scheduled to start tomorrow the 23rd of February 2017 and run for two days coming to a close on the 24th of February 2017. The summit will be held at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS) right here in Nairobi, Kenya. The summit recognises high potential entrepreneurs with 10 enterprises competing for the coveted Sankalp Africa Award each year. It is organised by Intellecap, a global investment and advisory firm.

Key themes at the 4th Sankalp Africa Summit include sustainable development goal as well as Africa in 2030 with a keen focus on technology as a key driver to the continent’s economic growth. Others include Healthcare -moving from a curative to preventive health system through technology and innovation- Energy as well as Food and Nutrition.

Sankalp Africa Summit is an interactive and engaging high-level discourse aimed at spurring Africa’s entrepreneurship economy. Sankalp Forum will bring together over 1,000 global delegates including entrepreneurs, investors, corporations, governments and funders with the purpose of facilitating connections, collective learning and a collaborative approach to building entrepreneurial ecosystems.

It will also draw participants from over 40 countries across the world. There will be about 125 speakers with 10 enterprises scheduled to showcase their businesses. Nine Kenyan startups made it to the final list that will showcase their business ideas before a jury at this year’s Sankalp Africa Summit. The Kenyan startups are:

Rwanda-based Kesha is the only enterprise outside Kenya that made it to this year’s final list at the Sankalp summit.

The 4th Annual Sankalp Africa Summit promises to be 2 exciting days full of conversations and collaborations among entrepreneurs, investors, donors, funders and corporations.

Over the last 3 years, Sankalp Forum has convened over 1,200 diverse stakeholder groups in Africa with the intent to create an ecosystem approach to enterprise-led development. Sankalp Forum is a global platform with regional editions in Kenya, India and Indonesia.
