Only if Chebukati grew some balls and stopped being a coward
The Supreme Court of Kenya served Kenyans with Justice. That’s why there is peace. That’s why those who didn’t agree with the ruling didn’t find any reasons to riot and destroy anyone’s property. I can tell you this for free, even those who voted for Uhuru knew as a matter of fact that the elections were not free and fair. But for Maraga and his team to have served that Justice, Maraga had to firmly stand his ground and put the rule of law above all else. He had to go against the executive. He had to bury cowardice. The firmness with which Maraga stood his ground is something that has been lacking in electoral commission. Kivuitu didn’t have it, neither did Isaac Hassan. Chebukati was not only a coward during the last elections, but he was a fearful coward. You could see Chebukati trembling every time he appeared to make a press statement as results started streaming in.
With a fearful coward IEBC Chairman, how can IEBC conduct a fresh Presidential Election that is free and fair? As much as NASA has called for certain individuals within the commission to be changed, Jubilee has insisted that no one within IEBC will go anywhere. Given that Jubilee controls the instruments of power, we can assume Jubilee’s wishes will carry the day – well, unless Chebukati grows some balls.

It is in public domain that Chebukati’s balls are being held by Jubilee’s henchmen. If Chebukati tries to free himself,the henchmen will squeeze them – and the pain will be too much for Chebutakit to bear. That’s why Chebukati must grow new balls for him to deliver a fresh Presidential Election in a clean slate. The henchmen don’t want the individuals who messed the previous election to go home, but Chebuti must exercise his full executive authority and fire any suspects who might have compromised the last elections.
In addition to firing the criminals who compromised our Presidential Election, Chebukati must audit the entire IEBC. He must vet his staff. If he finds the moles who have been colluding with NASA, those moles must be fired too. Any mole who has been colluding with Jubilee cannot be spared either. If the entire IEBC Secretariat needs overhaul, he must move with speed and do what is necessary. Chebukati must then put in place individuals he can trust. He must make sure that no one is imposed on him from anywhere.
Then Chebukati must take time to understand IEBC Systems. From the information that have so far reached the public, it is clear Chebukati had no idea what was happening behind the scenes. For example, how on earth could people have access to his password to the System without his knowledge? Given how sensitive the IEBC Systems are, how come he didn’t check regularly if the System’s integrity was still intact? One answer can suffice – he is ignorant as one can be on matters ICT. So for him to deliver a credible election, he must take time to understand the System he is dealing with.
Given that Chebukati was not in charge of the last elections, he must now exert his authority and take the charge, provide direction, and protect the Elections Laws with his blood if need be. If there is someone threatening him with death, he can state as much in public so that if he acquires anything as little as a sneeze, we’d know who is responsible.
But remember Chebukati may not be able to grow any balls if he has managed to acquire a fatter bank balance than he had before accepting to chair the IEBC.
