KCPE 2017 results and SMS short code
KCPE 2017 SMS short code is 22252
The results of KCPE 2017 are out, and according to Prof. Magoha, the performance of KCPE 2017 students is so remarkable that the top students in KCPE 2016 cannot even rank in top 20 KCPE 2017. Not only that, but this year’s KCPE results have registered zero incidences of malpractice, meaning there will be no student having his/her results cancelled.
In 2017 there have been some 9,846 (almost 10,000) students who passed the 400 mark out of 500 with the leading candidate having scored 455 marks out of 500. These students, whether from public or private schools, will enjoy the amenities only found in national schools.
Another remarkable occurrence for this year’s KCPE is that students with special needs have also taken the top slots, where in top 100 best students there are 6 students with special needs. This year also marks the second year where students will know their secondary slots before new year, as student placements is set to begin on December 4th and end on December 12th 2017.
The speed with which this years’ results have been released has everything to do with modern technology, where according to Prof Magoha, the Kenya National Examination Council spent some Kshs 100 million to purchase some 20 Automated Optical Mark Recognition Machines. “Through the aid of the Government, the council has purchased 20 machines which are going to ease the work of marking with great efficiency and we anticipate that the compilation of results will be concluded earlier than any other time before,” Magoha said.
The 20 Automated Optical Mark Recognition Machines not only helped to speed up the marking process, but also saved on labour cost as the work force was reduced by up to 50 percent. Compared to last year, the machines also seems to have speed up the timing of releasing the results as last year the KCPE results were released on December 1.
Just like last year, students who want to know their results should send their index numbers to SMS code 22252, or go to KNEC website to check the results from the portal, or walk to the primary schools tomorrow to physically get the results from their teachers.
