Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and his wife freed on Bail

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu aka ‘Babayao’ has been released together with his wife on a Ksh 15 million cash bail. The two were arrested on Sunday the 28^th where they spent the night in the EACC cells before their arraignment in court on Monday. They also spent the night in cells after being denied bail which has been granted today. Governor Waititu, his wife and some of his employees were accused of rendering illegal tenders that amounted to Ksh 588 million. It is not the first time Governor Waititu has been arraigned in court this year. This is a second time first one being May 24^th 2019 where he was also charged of looting public funds with his family. Babayao was later released on a Ksh 500000 bail.

The case will again be heard on 26^th of August 2019 where final judgment will be made. Kenyans are tired of all these corruption cases just sinking in bail settlement we need these people to be prosecuted and taken to jail. It does not matter whether you hold a high position in the country no one is above the law including the president. If we were to make a sum of all the money that these leaders have embezzled and see what it can do believe me you will be amazed.

Take for example the Ksh9 billion that was lost during Arror and Kimwarer Dams Scandal. This amount could finance the 2019 budget for the same county where these dams were to be constructed for three consecutive years. Since the budget estimate for Elgeyo Marakwet was about Ksh2.5 billion. So it is up to the DCI and EACC to make sure that these culprits don’t just get away scot free like nothing ever happened.

For now Kiambu Governor Mr Ferdinand Waititu can freely walk back to his house and to the freedom world but the court has barred him from accessing his office.
