Parasite, South Korean Film wins big at the Oscars[Full List]

The first Korean film, Parasite dominated the 92nd prestigious Oscar Awards. The event went down so well on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Dolby Theatre, Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and was televised live on ABC, an American commercial broadcast radio and television network owned by Disney Media Networks. The Parasite film bagged 4 awards from major categories. The film won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best International Feature Film.

The film became the first South Korean production to receive Academy Award recognition, as well as the first non-English language film to win Best Picture. The Parasite cast and creative team could not hide their joy at the event describing the win as a remarkable achievement in the history of film in South Korean and the World. “I feel like a very opportune moment in history is happening right now,” producer Kwak Sin Ae said.

“It still feels very surreal. I feel like something will hit me and I will wake up from this dream.” Director, Bong Joon-ho jovially narrated after winning Best Picture. Parasite film was also nominated for the Best Production Design. The film premiered for the first time on 21 May 2019 at the 2019 Cannes Film.
