In addition, Messenger is launching Soundmojis today. Soundmojis is a new feature that enables people to send short sound clips in Messenger chat. People will be able to choose from a library of options that range from sound effects (crickets 🦗, clapping 👏, drumroll 🥁, and evil laughter 👻) to popular song clips. Each sound is sent as an emoji (no words), providing surprising delights through culturally-relevant audio clips.

We’re launching an entire Soundmoji library for you to choose from, which we’ll update regularly with new sound effects and famous sound bites. Each sound is represented by an emoji, keeping the visual emojis we all love in play, while bringing sound into the mix.
